Fort Huachuca AZ

Fort Huachuca is a United States Army installation under the command of the United States Army Installation Management Command. It is located in Sierra Vista, Cochise County, in southeast Arizona, about 15 miles north of the border with Mexico. Sierra Vista, which annexed the fort in 1971, is located south and east of the Ft. Huachuca and Huachuca City. Libby Army Airfield is located on post and shares the runway with Sierra Vista Municipal Airport; it is on the list of alternate landing locations for the space shuttle, though it has never been used as such.

Ft Huachuca is also home to a radar-equipped aerostat, one of a series maintained for the Drug Enforcement Administration by Lockheed Martin. The aerostat is based northeast of Garden Canyon and, when extended, supports the DEA drug interdiction mission by detecting low-flying aircraft attempting to penetrate the United States.

Visitors to Fort Huachuca should enter the installation through the Main Gate at the west end of Sierra Vista's Fry Boulevard and the intersection with Buffalo Soldier Trail (just down the street from the Sierra Suites hotel)

The Main Gate Welcome Center is open Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. It is closed on weekends and holidays. The Welcome Center can provide both temporary and permanent on-post vehicle registration, information on where to locate troop units, and general information about the installation, along with a map to guide visitors to their destination.
